Below you will find the answers to the questions we hear most often from Echo Finance customers:
A mortgage broker, or a mortgage advisor, is an intermediary who acts as a conduit between an aspiring borrower and a lender. It is their job to provide the mortgage applicant with impartial advice, help them choose the right product and arrange the deal with the lender.
Brokers provide services including advice on which type of mortgage to choose, providing access to exclusive rates through their lender contacts, and application support. Some can offer advice on all areas of the mortgage market, while others specialise in niche fields such as buy-to-let, bad credit, commercial finance, first-time buyers or self-employed borrowers.
People choose to apply for their mortgage through a broker because it can boost their chances of finding the right deal, while saving time and money in the long run.
Echo Finance has assembled a team of mortgage brokers spanning the whole of the UK to ensure our team covers the entire country and has a range of different expertise within in the mortgage and wider financial services space.
If your preference is to use an adviser in your local area, this is something we can cater for - head over to our Find Your Local Adviser page and enter your postcode on there to access a directory of the brokers in your area.
Although we aim to provide a local adviser for customers who have this preference, keep in mind that all of our brokers can help clients based anywhere in the UK using phone, email, video calling and other communication channels. Depending on the expertise you need, the best broker for you might not be based in your postcode, but this won't impact the quality of service you will receive.
For customers looking for face-to-face consultations with a local mortgage broker or financial adviser, we will aim to cater for this where possible, as many of our brokers can offer in-person appointments.
We can help you secure an agreement in principle in minutes, but a full mortgage application can take up to 14 days from submission to approval. However, with the right mortgage broker on your side, you can shave time off the process.
A broker can help you remove unnecessary barriers and roadblocks by making sure your paperwork is completed correctly and pairing you with the right lender, first time.
Your first consultation will be free with no obligation to take things any further. There may be a broker fee if you choose to proceed, with the exact amount being a either a fixed fee or small percentage of the mortgage amount, payable upon on offer or completion.
Keep in mind that our aim is to make sure you are in-pocket overall. Through a broker, you could secure a significantly lower rate on your mortgage, which means you make big savings over the course of the term, with all fees and charges factored in.
You will be offered full trasparency about the overall cost involved during your initial free, no-obligation chat.

THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SECURING OTHER DEBTS AGAINST YOUR HOME. YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON A MORTGAGE OR ANY OTHER DEBT SECURED ON IT.
IF YOU ARE THINKING OF CONSOLIDATING EXISTING BORROWING YOU SHOULD BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY BE EXTENDING THE TERMS OF THE DEBT AND INCREASING THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU REPAY.
